His arrest follows those of two other Algerian influencers: Zazou Youssef, in Brest, and Imad Tintin, in Echirolles.
According to an Algerian political activist who took refuge in France who reported the Doualemn video, the latter called for acts of torture and murder and “targeted all those who wanted to demonstrate on January 1st against the Algerian regime (and in particular) a young activist whose death he wants because a person named Cohen shared his video.”
Michaël Delafosse’s report
As a reminder, this Saturday, January 4, Mayor Michaël Delafosse wrote to the public prosecutor to denounce calls for racial hatred and acts of torture broadcast on the social network Tik Tok and emanating from an individual residing in Montpellier.
“These comments were reported and reported by several Montpellier citizens, deeply shocked by the content of the messages“, underlined the mayor.
According to him, these facts can be legally qualified as “public incitement to discrimination, hatred or violence against a person” and “apology for crimes of torture or barbarity”.
He asked the prosecutor, through article 40, “to initiate legal proceedings against Mr. Boualem Naman”, in the name of “public tranquility” and “respect for republican values”.
The same day, the prefect of Hérault, François-Xavier Lauch, announced on X that he had also alerted the Montpellier judicial court. “I became aware of this video late this morning, he writes. She is intolerable. I immediately contacted the public prosecutor on the basis of article 40 so that legal action could be taken regarding these comments. I will also act on the administrative level.”
