NFL – The Vikings have decided to bring their fans in force for the last shock of the regular season.

Ford Field will not be 100% in favor of the Detroit Lions for the Week 18 clash against the Minnesota Vikings. Accustomed to having a lively crowd in their stadium for several months, a crowd which does not hesitate to spend significant sums for its team which is finally finding its way to victory after years of scarcity, the Lions will be forced to welcome many Minnesota fans to their home this Sunday evening.

The reason? The Vikings franchise purchased nearly $2 million worth of tickets for the decisive meeting for the awarding of the first seed in the NFC but also for the division title. While the NFL usually grants around 600 tickets for opposing fans, the Minnesota franchise decided to take matters into their own hands and paid around 1,000 euros per ticket or 2,000 tickets purchased in total according to information from Sports Illustrated .

These tickets were then resold by the franchise to annual season ticket holders in the Vikings grounds. The tickets were resold significantly below their purchase price since fans of the Minnesota franchise had the opportunity to repurchase the tickets at a price of around 200 dollars, or 1/5 of the price paid by the franchise.

Alerted to the situation, the Detroit Lions filed a complaint with the NFL authorities who ultimately ensured that no regulations had been violated by the Vikings franchise in this matter. With a capacity of nearly 70,000 seats, Ford Field will therefore have 2,000 Minnesota fans this Sunday. It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to tip the scales for Justin Jefferson’s teammates.
