The start of the year is an opportunity to take stock of the results of the team sports and racquet sports clubs in Bagnols-sur-Cèze.
1. The HBGR fights to maintain
Handball Bagnols Gard from the Rhône continues a second consecutive season in Nationale 2 after remaining in the final days during the previous year. The Bagnolais club is tenth in the standings with 19 points. “As we expected, it’s a high quality championshipanalyzes President Patrice Attard. The group is very tough and there are only five points difference with third place. The objective of the second part of the season is to leave two teams behind to avoid the descent. The group is young, attentive, attentive and should progress further in the months to come.” The leader emphasizes “the very good state of mind” of the team. “The players fight for the jersey and are attached to the club.” The resumption of the championship is scheduled for February 8 with the reception of Frontignan at Les Eyrieux. The players coached by Raphaël Geslan will play a second consecutive home match on Saturday February 15.
2. The FCBP is moving forward
The Football Club Bagnols Pont-Saint-Esprit began a new cycle this year after the descent into regional 2 of its first team. A new president, Mounir Zekhnini, was elected by the steering committee around two weeks ago. If financially the FCBP remains in difficulty, sportingly the results are encouraging. After ten days of the championship, the team coached by Philippe Morel since September shares first place in the Regional 2 Pool A ranking with Nîmes Chemin Bas. The two clubs have seventeen points, one more than the 3e et 4e.
3. The RCBM in trouble far from its lands
Before the winter break, the seniors of Rugby Club Bagnols Marcoule (RCBM) had already played their first match of the return phase. With better results than last season, three wins and a draw out of nine matches played, they are currently unable to secure a place in Regional 2 next season. “We are last in our group, just 7 points from fourth and 10 points from third.says Milo Harel, coach of the senior group. The game will blossom in the second half of the season. The game plan is clearer, there are more of us in training. It will pay off!”
The yellow and black now need away victories. “We didn’t bring home a point on the roadcontinues Milo Harel. This is our biggest weakness. We started the first match with 25 members… It was complicated for the start of the season. The players dwell a little on the 17 defeats of last season. We had a hard time telling ourselves that we could do something in this group.” But with the victory against Lunel in December, morale seems to be returning and the small difference in points between the teams reassures the Bagnolais. “We manage to prove things to each other. What’s more, the group is living well, a Players’ Association has been created. We say to ourselves that we can achieve something by the end of the season!”
4. Objectives achieved for the BMSTT
The Bagnols Marcoule Sabran Table Tennis (BMSTT) club teams have completed the first phase of the departmental and regional championships. The first team, which plays in regional 1, has validated its continuation for the second part of the season. The second team also won their place in regional 4 thanks to a victory on the last day in December. Thanks to good results, the departmental teams 2 and 3 have reached the higher division and will play in departmental 1 and 2 respectively. A new team, made up of players who played leisurely, has just been created and will play in D3. The second phase of the championship will begin on January 19.
5. General satisfaction at the BMBB
The start of the season has been successful for Bagnols Marcoule Basketball (BMBB). “The coaches are all satisfied with the results of their teamswelcomes Boris Lombart, vice-president of the club. The seniors are in the top four and are playing to advance to the regional level. But it is above all the attendance that we are most proud of. The young people do not miss matches or training and are involved in club life.“
In the 2024/25 financial year, the sports association felt the Olympic effect with seven men’s teams. The leaders were also able to recreate a women’s category, among the U11s. These eight teams play at the departmental level. “There were so many people registering that we had to turn away 30 to 40 young people in Septemberexplains the vice-president of the BMBB. To have more teams and licensees, we would need more slots and more volunteers.“
