The Swiss once again shone in slalom. In Kranjska Gora, Wendy Holdener took 2nd place behind the young Croatian Zrinka Ljutic. Camille Rast failed at the foot of the podium just ahead of Mélanie Meillard.
Wendy Holdener didn’t miss much to achieve her third World Cup success in the discipline. Co-leader with Zrinka Ljutic at the end of the first round, the Schwyzoise delivered a high-flying second round. But the skier from Unteriberg came across a Ljutic in a state of grace. The 20-year-old Croatian crossed the line 0.16″ ahead to sign her second consecutive success in the discipline after her triumph in Semmering last weekend.
Thanks to this new victory, Ljutic takes 1st place in the general classification and that of the slalom. Leader of the discipline before this race, Camille Rast is however only 4 points behind in the slalom World Cup. Fourth, 0”17 from the podium, the Valaisan native finished the five slaloms of the season in the top-5.
Mélanie Meillard also demonstrates more than pleasing consistency, even if she will still have to wait before achieving a first top 3 in a classic discipline. The skier from Hérémence has five top 10 finishes in her 2024/25 slalom record, which places her in 8th place in the discipline rankings.
