Asus unveiled the new ROG Strix Scar 16 gaming laptop at CES 2025, featuring a 16-inch 240Hz Mini-LED display, an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and an NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU, an advanced cooling system and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
Asus’ ROG Strix Scar 16 (2025 version) made its official debut at CES 2025. It’s a refreshed iteration of last year’s model, with improved specs and features . The 16-inch gaming laptop is equipped with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor (up to 65W TDP) and Nvidia Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 processor with a maximum TDP of 175W.
The new ROG Strix Scar 16 features a 16-inch ROG Nebula HDR Mini-LED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. With 16:10 aspect ratio, 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time and a peak brightness of 1200 nits, the display is validated by Pantone (a certification which indicates that a device can accurately reproduce the colors of the Pantone Matching System (PMS)) and supports Dolby Vision HDR, Nvidia G-Sync and a contrast ratio of 1200:1. These features make it ideal for gaming and content creation.
The laptop includes up to 64GB of DDR5 5600MHz RAM and two storage options with up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs. Cooling is provided by a three-fan system, an end-to-end vapor chamber and Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal for efficient thermal management. Scalability won’t be an issue either, since tool-free access makes hardware updates easy.
With a weight of 2.5 kg and a chassis equipped with AniMe Matrix Vision (to create and display custom light animations) and RGB Aura Sync lighting, the ROG Strix Scar 16 features a sleek and durable overall design. Connectivity is also quite robust, with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and ports including two Thunderbolt 5, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and a 2.5G LAN port. Other features include a 90Wh battery with fast charging support, Dolby Atmos sound, and a 1080p FHD IR camera with Windows Hello for secure connections.
The ROG Strix Scar 16 starts at $2,599 for the base configuration.
