It seemed impossible, so he did it. In 2024, Nazim wrote, performed and uploaded one song per day to listening platforms. That’s 366 pieces in total in this leap year. In a video posted on his Instagram account at the end of December 2023, he announced the color and explained the reasons for this colossal challenge.
“I’m pretty good actually: 7 million albums sold, 15 billion radio contacts, 3 billion streams, 5 songs of the year… It’s beautiful! But all that is for others. For me, it’s 0 albums, 3-4 titles on platforms, 2 depressions. That’s why I decided to try a crazy challenge: write, produce and compose a song a day for a year.” At 37 years old, the one nicknamed in the profession “the hit maker”, for having written pell-mell “Andalusian” or “Mama’s eyes” for Kendji Girac, “I searched“for Amir, or again”On court” for Yannick Noah, wanted to give a boost to his solo career. A career less exposed than those for whom he wrote, despite emblematic songs like “I am a single woman” or “Why do you want me to dance.”
A year later, the mission was a success for Nazim, who kept up the terrible pace despite the slack. “Sometimes out of pride”, as he conceded in a recent video, when the fatigue was most felt. And always in his very personal bittersweet style, sometimes melancholy and often touching which has characterized him since his beginnings, when he composed between two pizza deliveries near Saint-Étienne during his adolescence.
