For Epiphany, a 5 gram gold ingot replaces the traditional bean in an operation carried out by the Comptoir National de l’or. And a bakery is taking part…

What if the bean was replaced this year by a gold ingot? To avoid breaking their teeth, and a high cost of dental care, it is by scanning a QR Code affixed to the bag which packages the cake or a flyer distributed by the baker that gourmands can contribute to this launched operation by the Comptoir National de l’or.

A way to recall a tradition dating from the 18th century. At the time, the traditional bean inserted into the pancake was replaced by gold or silver coins in the wealthiest families.

At each point of sale associated with the operation, a 5 gram ingot can be won.

Like last year, the French company specializing in the purchase and sale of the precious metal, has therefore decided to renew its operation for Epiphany in partnership with several pastry bakers in , including one in Toulouse: the bakery Saint-Aubin*.

“First time participating in this game”

Until January 31, in each of the participating bakeries, participants can register. “One winner per point of sale can win a 5 gram ingot during a competition punctuated by a draw, for a value of 445 euros, by purchasing a cake,” indicates the organizer .

“This is our first participation in this game. Until now, our customers came for the quality of our products but we hope that the competition will allow us to attract new ones,” explains Carole Lapoujade, from the Saint-Aubin bakery, which, until now, has not communicated on the subject, but informs its customers when they come to the store.
