Côte-d’Or. This tragic pileup on the A6 which cost the life of a 20-year-old young man

This Saturday, January 4 in the evening, the freezing rains announced by Météo France led to a series of interventions firefighters in Côte-d’Or. Within a few hours, they were mobilized 38 times to respond to accidents and emergency rescue.

16 road accidents reported, one dead

Difficult weather conditions caused 16 accidentsincluding 11 on the department’s highways.

Among the most notable interventions this Saturday, an accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on the A6 motorway, near the Mercueil area (kilometer point 311) a few kilometers south of Beaune, in the Paris-Lyon direction.

This accident involved three light vehicles, with a particularly heavy human toll:

• A first vehicle with a 26 year old woman, a 36 year old man et a 6 year old child were slightly injured,
• In a second vehicle, a man 20 ans has unfortunately lost his life,
• in a third and final vehicle, a 36 year old man and one 31 year old woman were also slightly injured.

The accident caused a traffic jam of more than 2 kmwhich was able to be resolved quickly thanks to the intervention of the emergency services. An investigation is underway to find out the exact circumstances of this accident.

Victim relief and other interventions

In addition to road accidents, firefighters intervened on 15 occasions to carry out aid to victimsas well as seven other weather-related incidents.

The evening was particularly trying for the department. There are therefore one death, two serious injuries, 33 minor injuries and 24 people involved in various incidents.
