Thursday January 2, a 78-year-old resident was found dead in the room of her retirement home in Oyonnax, in Ain, with her son also deceased at her side. Police suspect him of killing his mother before taking his own life, reports BFMTV.
The woman was 78 years old, her son was 46. The two were found dead on Thursday January 2, around 10:30 p.m., in a nursing home where the mother was staying in the town of Oyonnax, located in Ain. The information was reported by police sources on Friday January 3 while an investigation was opened.
On site, the police found two bloody knives in the resident's room, the door of which had been closed from the inside. According to the first elements of the investigation, it appears that the son killed his mother by slitting her throat, before committing suicide by inflicting several blows with a knife.
Ehpad staff alerted by the noise in the room
A nightmarish Thursday evening for the staff of the nursing home “The Turning of the Seasons”, in the town of Oyonnax. He was alerted by a noise coming from the room of a resident of the establishment. Emergency services were then contacted to open the door and discovered the two inert bodies on site.
“From the first elements, the accused, with no criminal record, would have committed suicide with a knife after having slit his mother's throat, subject to the results of the autopsy and the investigation which is continuing.“, further informs the public prosecutor's office of Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain).
