The activation of level 1 of the extreme cold plan implies a strengthening of the social monitoring measures in force throughout the department.
In Meurthe-et-Moselle, the prefecture has decided to activate level 1 of the “severe cold” plan. An episode of intense cold, which requires particular vigilance, has hit the department since yesterday. Françoise Souliman, prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle, therefore decided to activate this level 1.
The extreme cold plan involves reinforced measures
Activation of level 1 implies a strengthening of the social monitoring measures in force throughout the department. The objective is that anyone in difficulty, who lives on the street, can be sheltered and offered an accommodation solution.
In conjunction with the associations present in the area, the opening hours of day centers are extended. Daily marauding tours are also reinforced and additional accommodation places are mobilized.
The importance of dialing 115 in case of difficulty
A free call number can be dialed to report anyone in difficulty: 115. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is responsible for informing, guiding and providing accommodation for homeless people and vulnerable people.
Similar measures in Haute-Marne
The Haute-Marne department was placed on yellow “severe cold” vigilance overnight. The Prefect of Haute-Marne, Régine Pam, has taken various measures, including the extension of the hours of the patrols which run every evening and the extension of the hours of day receptions to allow the identification of the public most in difficulty.
She also emphasizes the importance of reporting anyone in distress in a public space to 115.
The severe cold plan also triggered in the Vosges
The yellow vigilance level has also been triggered in the Vosges department. For the next few days, temperatures announced by Météo-France will be lower than or equal to -5°. It is for these reasons that Valérie Michel-Moreaux, Prefect of the Vosges, triggered the yellow vigilance level of the extreme cold plan. It will be reviewed depending on the evolution of temperatures
