VIDEO – The forty-year-old was pushed under the trains of a train in a New York subway station. A 23-year-old individual known to the police was arrested.

A 45-year-old man miraculously escaped death after being pushed onto the New York subway tracks on Tuesday, December 31, just before a train arrived. Video from surveillance cameras at the metro station «18th Street»shows a man violently pushing an individual onto the tracks just before a train arrives.

According to the first elements of the investigation, he fell next to the train and was only hit by one side of the train, which saved his life. The forty-year-old was quickly taken care of by emergency services but suffered serious injuries, according to the New York Times. “Miraculously, he survived this terrible attack, but he remains seriously injured and hospitalized in New York”wrote his sister in a message on Facebook. Still according to the daily, the man suffered a fractured skull, broken ribs and a ruptured spleen.

A suspect quickly identified

A 23-year-old individual, already known to the police for acts of assault, carrying illegal weapons and harassment, was quickly identified and arrested by the authorities. According to his father, interviewed by the press, the suspect suffers from mental health problems and has been a drug user for several months.

In connection with this case, he was charged with “assault” et “attempted murder” in this matter. The suspect is due to appear in court on January 6.
