Every year, the Château Royal d’Amboise hosts the competition for the best galette des rois de Touraine. The Maison des Artisans Boulangers et Pâtissiers in the department offers professionals the opportunity to compete on two recipes: the traditional one with almond frangipane, and a creative galette (with hazelnuts for this year 2025). A 3e “Brioche des rois” category is also initiated because there are amateurs.
This challenge is open to all bakeries or patisseries in Indre-et-Loire. Not everyone participates but there are always several dozen applications, which provides a fairly good range of products for the jury to test. Here are the results after tasting. With winners who can expect a lot of traffic in store in the coming days…

“The jury praised the diversity and originality of the cakes presented” explains the Maison des Artisans Boulangers et Pâtissiers du 37, which thus promotes in-house manufacturing. We note the great success of Aux Délices de Pierre in Château-Renault, a house which has already won a national galette des rois prize. But also the confirmation of often award-winning brands like Valter et Flora, Au Tours des Gourmandises, Nardeux or Les Blés de Demain.
The galettes des rois are available until the end of January.
