2025 is here, and the Colombian national team is fully focused on leaving a strong impression throughout the year. The goal is clear: to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States as quickly as possible. So, the first match attracts a lot of attention in the football world.
In mid-March 2025, Colombia will face Brazil away on matchday 13 of the South American qualifiers, a clash that promises to influence the top of the table. The Tricolores will have to go and get points, because the poor conclusion of 2024 has intensified the urgency to accumulate them.
A few days after facing the five-time world champions, Colombia will host Paraguay in Barranquilla for the 14th day of the competition. A significant turnout is expected, as well as a victory which would bring Lorenzo’s men closer to the world stage.

The Colombian team finds itself in a difficult position after two consecutive defeats in the final qualifying rounds of 2024. In the span of seconds, they lost to Uruguay in Montevideo, and Ecuador effectively emerged victorious in Barranquilla.
Lorenzo commented to the press: “At a point in the process where we had to think for a long time, it leaves us upset and wanting to analyze and do the things that will prevent these painful moments.”
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t even get a draw, but the attitude was there; the search (for the goal) was there, and, well, I’m very saddened by the result,” lamented the Argentine Lorenzo, finalist of the Copa América with the national team, in Barranquilla.
