GTA 6 is undoubtedly Rockstar Games’ flagship project at the moment, but once this chapter is over, it would be time for them to resurrect another iconic franchise.
The gaming world has been punctuated by the wait for GTA 6 for years. Rockstar’s legendary silence on the subject has sometimes dampened the enthusiasm of certain players, while others are still scrutinizing every possible clue on the networks social or in GTA Online.
Despite rumors of a postponement, nothing has been confirmed to date. At the start of 2025, all eyes are on GTA 6, and this seems perfectly justified.
However, while GTA Online’s successor will certainly take up a large portion of Rockstar’s post-launch efforts, the developers are expected to revisit another one of their franchises, and we’re not talking about Bully or Red Dead Redemption.
Millions of players are waiting for GTA 6.
The return of Midnight Club would be excellent news
This is Midnight Club. This series has not been revisited since 2009 with the release of Midnight Club: LA Complete Edition on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Rockstar and Take-Two are not the type to ignore trends. They’ve certainly noticed how much players love Forza Horizon and how this series has redefined racing games.
Even though Rockstar has rarely mentioned Midnight Club in recent years, they have retained the series’ trademark. Why not exploit it? Why not try a comeback?
Midnight Club LA is a popular game that should be revisited.
GTA Online as a starting point
With their expertise in creating immersive worlds through Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar could leverage next-gen consoles to develop a racing game capable of rivaling Forza Horizon.
Sure, racing games are often single-player focused, but Forza Horizon has proven that these games can thrive in an online universe as well.
Moreover, Rockstar has already demonstrated its know-how with the racing scene in GTA Online. Players create crazy circuits and explore modes inspired by Formula 1.
These elements fit perfectly into the chaos of GTA’s sandbox, but it leaves one wondering: what could they accomplish if their main objective was a racing game?
Races in GTA Online range from crazy to serious.
Forza Horizon has the benefit of surprising collaborations, like its partnership with Lego, but Rockstar doesn’t need to pull a rabbit out of its hat to woo players.
They don’t have to take a completely simulation-focused approach to compete with Forza. Rockstar could easily create a unique and striking universe, faithful to their style.
With all their talent and resources at their disposal, a Midnight Club return would be a masterstroke. And we really hope that they will embark on this adventure.
