New Year: here’s to 2025!
2025 is shaping up to be the international year of glacier preservation, the international year of science and song technology and even the jubilee decreed by Pope Francis. The Kazakh language abandons the Cyrillic alphabet for Latin. A new universal exhibition is being held from April 13 in Osaka, Japan.

Real estate: rental properties on the move
Several changes are impacting the real estate sector. The Pinel tax system, supporting rental investment, is ending without being replaced. Sector experts fear that the end of the system will slow down construction in tense areas.
The Le Meur law, nicknamed the “anti-Airbnb law”, aims to regulate the rental of furnished tourist accommodation. Objective: put housing, rented short-term, back on the market.
From now on, it is prohibited to rent thermal strainers with the DPE letter G.

Transport: tightening of low-emission zones
Vehicles classified as Crit’Air 3 (diesels registered before 2011 and gasoline before 2006) are prohibited from circulating in several large metropolises such as Paris and its inner suburbs or Lyon. Some cities grant them restrictive time slots. This measure should affect nearly eight million vehicles, or around 21% of the French vehicle fleet.
Please note that technical inspections are evolving. To respond to environmental and technical challenges, the new procedures include more efficient devices to detect fraud, in particular manipulation of anti-pollution systems. The technical inspection also reinforces safety checks, such as those of brakes, suspensions and belts.

Transport in Île-de-France : finally change in public transport in the Ile-de-France region. The monthly Navigo Pass increases by 2.8% to €88.80. If you want to travel in the region, you will only need a single ticket for €2.50.
New health record : it contains pages dedicated to preventing the use of screens to protect the mental health of young people and changes compulsory medical examinations for children.
Ticket restaurant : end of the possibility of purchasing products that are not directly consumable in supermarkets (oil, bacon, flour, wine, etc.). Only sandwiches, tomatoes or ready meals remain eligible. The usable daily amount drops to 19 euros.
Housing savings plan : the PEL interest rate drops by half a point to 1.75%.
Free instant transfer : from January 9, banks can no longer overcharge for this financial transfer between individuals or professionals.
More expensive mail and parcels : increase of 6.8% on average. The green letter, for example, increases from 1.29 euros to 1.39 euros, while the registered letter (20 g) climbs to 5.74 euros. La Poste increases Colissimo prices by 5.2% on average, all destinations combined (France and international).
