Around 2:20 a.m. this Thursday, January 2, 2025, a fire involving seven hydrogen buses broke out in the parking lot of the Optymo bus depot in Danjoutin near Belfort. The fire was contained around 4:45 a.m., informed the Prefecture of the Territory of Belfort.
An environmental and atmospheric risk assessment was carried out. As a preventive measure, and despite winds blowing fire smoke in the opposite direction, homes around the site were confined until 6:00 a.m. in order to limit the risk linked to air pollution. Numerous firefighters and national police are employed on site. The Prefect went there alongside them.
Around 5:45 a.m., the intervention continued and the Prefecture announced that 6 buses were turned off and that one last remained in the process of being turned off. Atmospheric readings carried out within a 100 m radius are negative. Atmospheric, water network and river water measurements will be taken every hour until the end of the event and communicated by the prefecture at the end.
