Three operators instead of just one

It was “a revolution” that took place behind the scenes. The term comes from Bruno Bernard, elected environmentalist and boss of Sytral Mobilités, when presenting the operation to cut down 's public transport.

Since 1is January, the TCL cake is in fact shared between three operators instead of just one (Keolis). Newcomer RATP Dev Lyon has inherited the operation of heavy modes: metros and trams including Rhônexpress, network security, etc.

Keolis Bus Lyon operates the buses and trolleybuses and the local public company TCL User Relation takes care of the administration of the network's ticketing and passenger information.

For these, nothing really changes. Since 1is January, at exactly 3 a.m., the three companies slipped into their new roles. The only real novelty visible to users: the prices…

New rates: increases greater than inflation

If the prices for certain categories (11-17 years old, students, reduced monthly solidarity, Waf ticket for dogs, etc.) do not change, most have increased more on 1is January than the inflation forecasts formulated by the Banque de for 2025 (+1.5%).

The single ticket thus went from €2 to €2.10 (+5%), the book of 10 tickets from €19.50 to €20 (+2.6%), the classic monthly subscription (26 -64 years) from €72.60 to €74.10 (+2.5%), the monthly subscription for 65 years and over will increase from €36.30 to €37 (+1.95%), that which concerns large families, today at €50.80, will cost €51.90 (+2.1%).

5 tariff zones and a unified network: more change to come in 2025

Other changes await TCL users later this year. In September, the unified TCL network will be set up, which will also include the Cars du Rhône, the departmental interurban network, and the Libellule network, of the Villefranche-Beaujolais-Saône agglomeration community.

A single network, a single title, a single subscription, a single application, a single information site: unification should simplify the lives of many users.

This new network will be accompanied by the establishment of 5 tariff zones. The current TCL network in Lyon will correspond to zones 1 and 2 and the revised prices from January will generally be maintained in September for this perimeter.

In addition to the subscription to zones 1 and 2 (center of Lyon and inner suburbs) there will be an all-zone subscription. Its price will be €90, next September, in its unlimited monthly plan for 26-64 year olds. To date, users can already benefit from a similar offer, with the Rhône Pass, giving access to the Rhône region (TCL, Cars du Rhône, and Libellule networks), at €85, an increase of almost 5.9 %.

TCL has, however, put a lot of emphasis on its solidarity pricing, spearheading free access for children under 10 years old (compared to 4 years old currently). “With this new pricing, more than 95% of current users benefit, either through a reduction in cost or through an extension of the travel perimeter,” promises Bruno Bernard.

River shuttles: TCL will also be present on the water

This is the last big news for 2025: Navigones will add boats to the public transport offer. River shuttles will in fact be set up on the Saône from June.

Without doubt the hit of the summer to come, to move between the Confluence district and Vaise-Industrie while contemplating Lyon in a different way, which will then extend throughout all seasons.

The service will initially be provided by a thermal shuttle and by the Vaporetto which already crisscrosses the Saône. 2 electric-powered boats, which can carry 70 passengers, will be delivered in October 2025, and two more in 2026.

Included in the TCL network, the Navigones will therefore be accessible with your usual ticket.
