After a first crossing of the equator early on Thursday, December 26 with 15 hours and 37 minutes ahead of the Jules-Verne Trophy record times, Thomas Coville and his six teammates (Frédéric Denis, Pierre Leboucher, Léonard Legrand, Guillaume Pirouelle, Benjamin Schwartz and Nicolas Troussel) set another good time passing the Cape of Good Hope.
This Wednesday, January 1 at 12:46 p.m., the first of the three major milestones of this Jules-Verne Trophy was reached 1 day 4 hours 17′ ahead of the passage time of Idec Sport, record holder since 2017 with a 40 day timer 23:30’30”.
The Sodebo 3 crew, which is 567 miles ahead of Francis Joyon and his teammates, has therefore fulfilled the first part of the contract which consisted of passing the Cape of Good Hope in less than 12 days.
In Concarneau, the crew of SVR Lazartigue, who had given up due to poor weather forecasts in the South Atlantic but also due to a problem with a headsail, should return to stand-by for a third attempt .
