After five months late and while the meeting was initially planned in Beijing then in Monaco, the 2024 Champions Trophy between PSG and Monaco will finally take place Sunday January 5 in Dohain Qatar.
The Champions Trophy traditionally pits the winner of Ligue 1 against that of the Coupe de France. PSG having won both trophies, it will face its runner-up, ASM. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. French time.
The match was therefore first scheduled for August 8 in Beijing, as in 2014, recalls RMC. The objective was in particular to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and friendship between France and China. But faced with the administrative burdens of the Middle Kingdom, the Professional Football League (LFP) finally gave up at the beginning of July.
Twists and puzzles
But while the meeting was finally to take place in Monaco on August 28the match is still postponed. At issue: the holding, on the same evening, of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
After these reversals and a sweep under the rug, the 2024 Champions Trophy file resurfaces in November. It was at that moment that the Qatari track is finally favoreddespite a new headache: that of the schedule, in the middle of the Ligue 1 day. While Le Havre and OM will face each other this Sunday at 8:45 p.m., the meeting between the Parisian club and the Monaco club will therefore take place at 5:30 p.m.

For its part, PSG sought to convince its troops to go to Doha, by offering a complete offer (plane, hotel and catering) worth 100 euros for the 250 most loyal fans, recalls RMC.
