Amen Thompson (Houston Rockets) was suspended for two games and Terry Rozier (Miami Heat) for one game following the fight that broke out in the final seconds of the Rockets-Heat game on Sunday.
Another Houston Rockets player, Jalen Green, was also fined $35,000 (around 33,600 euros) and Miami Heat defender Tyler Herro was fined $25,000 (around 24,000 euros), said the NBA in a press release.
Separately, Rockets coach Ime Udoka was fined $50,000 (48,000 euros) “for verbally assaulting a match official and failing to leave the field in a timely manner following his technical foul and expulsion.”
The home team’s assistant coach, Ben Sullivan, was also ejected during the incident which erupted with 35.7 seconds remaining in the final quarter of Miami’s 100-104 away victory .
The league ruled that Herro provoked the incident by “leaning on Thompson”. Thompson grabbed Herro’s jersey and threw it onto the field.
“Green and Rozier then got into the altercation, which led to the situation escalating,” the NBA said.
Rockets playmaker Fred VanVleet had been ejected about ten seconds earlier for “reckless contact with a referee”. He was fined $35,000 (33,000 euros) for this action.
