Daniel Lifschitz, grandson of hostage Oded Lifschitz, 84, was interviewed Monday morning by the Hebrew channel i24NEWS saying: “The list of hostages means nothing to me.” He called for it to be ignored.
Daniel Lifschitz also called for reducing the distribution of documents of this type, because they destabilize the families of the hostages. “Since December 1, we have not seen any hostage return from Gaza through agreement. We have not seen any hostage, male or female, return in a protected and well-known Red Cross car, and I just want to see it happen,” he said.
Regarding the nature of the agreement, he said: “I would prefer that there be just a one-step agreement. I personally understand that this agreement is a gradual agreement and that it will reach all the hostages well and I would be very surprised if Hamas signed an agreement that did not include the withdrawal of the IDF.”
The Hostage Families Forum reacted Monday morning to the publication of the list: “The families of the hostages are upset and shaken by ‘the list’ published this morning. We call on the media and the public to show sensitivity and responsibility regarding such releases and others that are likely to be released until an agreement is reached, and also during its progress. The time has come for a comprehensive agreement that will bring back all the hostages – the living ones for reconstruction. , and the dead for a decent burial. We don’t leave anyone behind!
It is important to note that although a senior Hamas source forwarded the list, the organization does not confirm it. However, Israel confirms the authenticity of the document and indicates that a similar list was already presented in July last year in the so-called “clarifications document”, when contacts failed. As we reported last week, contacts in Qatar ran into difficulties when Hamas reneged on its previous commitment to release sick and injured hostages who were on the humanitarian list, while Israel insisted that they are released from the first phase of the agreement.
