James Lee Williams, better known by his stage name The Vivienne, died at the age of 32 over the weekend, his agent Simon Jones announced on Instagram this Sunday, January 5, 2025.

The Vivienne won the first season of Drag Race UK in 2019. The causes of her death have not been revealed, underlines in particular the Huffington Post.

Drag Race confirmed the information a few hours later: “We are deeply saddened to learn of The Vivienne’s passing. Her talent, humor and dedication to the art of drag were inspiring. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will remain a beacon of creativity and of authenticity – she embodied what it means to be a true champion. Our hearts go out to her family and fans during this difficult time.”

“Brille Viv”
Born in 1992 in Wales, James Lee Williams began his career as a drag queen in 2007 in Liverpool. She chose the stage name The Vivienne in reference to the fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. She won Drag Race UK in 2019, and competed on the show’s All Star season in 2022.
