After a first EP composed of five tracks in early 2024, the young artist from Josselin (Morbihan) LAM is releasing a new single, entitled “Barlam”.
On the menu: R’n’B rhythms, meaningful lyrics, and a powerful and soothing voice.
Who is behind LAM?
I have always been attracted to the musical world, my parents constantly listened to music when I was little, I danced for 10 years, and I have been playing the ukulele self-taught since I was 18 (I I’m 24 today), music is my outlet, it allows me to flourish and feel free.
I went on stage for the first time in the spring of 2022. I was asked to replace an absent singer at short notice, and my passion transformed into a vocation that evening, I had a click and I understood that I wanted to share my music with the public. The machine was launched.
I basically have a school teacher diploma, and until that moment, I had only sung in front of children, in class, accompanied by my ukulele. I then decided to put my career on hold to launch into music. I chose the nickname “LAM”, because I have favorite notes in music, notably “A minor”, it is also a nod to the first letters of my first name Amandine, and a reference to the soul.
How would you describe your single?
“Barlam” is a duet featuring Barbouzerie, met through Jean-Baptiste, my manager.
A clever mix of soul, R’n’B and rap. When composing the instrumental, the theme immediately came to mind. For the lyrics, I used passages from poems I had written before. It is an invented story, based on the images that appeared to me when hearing the music, that of a young woman in a bar, a little disillusioned with life, with her relationships, accompanied by a second character , the pianist who plays in this bar. It is the projection of two characters who do not know each other, and who both have a heavy past. In one day, we wrote and recorded the piece, in the Barbouzerie studio in Aubervilliers.
What are your projects?
I invite listeners to stay tuned, as I will be releasing a new single every last Saturday of the month until June, that’s six singles to come.
I have concert dates planned, namely January 10 at the Pavillon restaurant in Auray, March 14 at the Revanche bar in Saint-Malo-des-Trois-Fontaines, and April 27 at the Plumelec chapel. I am available for other dates, establishments that wish can contact me to organize concerts.
Finally, today everything is self-produced, and my dream would be to be signed to a label.
