A house fire broke out this Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at the beginning of the afternoon in a residential area of Bressols (Tarn-et-Garonne). The owner, aged 80, suffered slight burns and was hospitalized in Montauban. His son will be relocated for the night in a hotel, the house having suffered significant damage. 33 firefighters were mobilized to this disaster.
This is called the law of series. A few hours after a fire which completely destroyed a straw and wood house in Bruniquel on the evening of December 31, Tarn-et-Garonne was the scene of a new house fire. It was in Bressols, a town in the Montauban conurbation, that the firefighters had to intervene on Wednesday January 1, 2025, at the start of the afternoon.
It was around 2 p.m., impasse des Tilleuls, a residential area of the town, when the alert was given. According to initial information, the owner of a house wanted to recharge the hearth of his chimney when he suffered a flashback. Slightly burned, this 80-year-old man was treated by firefighters and evacuated to the Montauban hospital center. His son, aged around fifty, was unharmed but the flames quickly spread throughout the house.
The Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 82) dispatched large resources to the scene: 33 personnel from the Montauban, Montech and Corbarieu barracks, with a group leader. Despite their efforts, the house was partially destroyed. At 5:45 p.m., the room manager of the Codis alert processing center indicated that the fire was extinguished but that a surveillance system would be maintained for part of the evening and night if necessary.
Informed of the situation, Jean-Louis Ibres, the mayor of Bressols who was absent from the town on New Year's Day, sent one of his deputies Catherine Madueno to the site. The octogenarian's son had to be rehoused for the night in a hotel until a lasting solution could be found.
The Montauban gendarmerie company sent a patrol to the site to draw up the usual findings.
