Passionate about leather goods, thirsty for creation, the young southern Haut-Marnaise Amarige Magnier wants to chart her own path… that of companionship. Encounter !
It is in the railway town, on the first floor of a nicely restored house, that of his parents, that Amarige has installed its small workshop. There, as soon as her schedule allows, she cuts, trims, sews, dyes…
However “Leather goods were not my first choice. After college, I hesitated between studies to work in the veterinary field or as an animal groomer. I was also attracted to pastry, glassmaking and jewelry. Finally, I chose a niche that suited me well, that is to say leather goods, by doing a professional baccalaureate in Romans-sur-Isère, followed by a year of specialization in glovemaking.explains Amarige.
Studies obviously supplemented by numerous internships in companies in a good part of France, in order to become familiar with such varied fields as the manufacture of belts, harnesses, gloves, sports and military equipment…
From Kiwanis to Witches
A whole range of training which today allows Amarige to create its micro-enterprise (Aux petits pépites d'Amarige) and to offer its creations, especially during the end of year celebrations. Never short of imagination, in perpetual research, the young girl has already attracted attention.
Thus, after being noticed, in 2023, for making a pouch on the theme of the twelve wonders of the worldwhich she declined by taking inspiration from the Colysée, this year the Kiwanis of Romans-sur-Isère awarded her its Design and Creativity grant for gloves.
The Compagnons du Devoir in the crosshairs
And at the local level, it was among others the organizers of the Witches' Festival, at Fort du Cognelot, who entrusted him with the manufacture of mittens intended for its newly elected Miss. An event at which Amarige exhibited its know-how… and its production.
For the moment, she works in a transport-logistics company. But as soon as her day is over, the young leatherworker sits behind her work table. Favoring manual sewing over mechanized sewingshe mainly makes small leather goods, spontaneously or to order. A range of products ranging of course from gloves to card holders, belts to purses, small handbags to wallets, makeup bags to key rings…
As for the future, she sees it far from Haute-Marne, for example in the Millau region. Indeed, after this year of transition, Amarige hopes to find, at the start of the next school year, one or more companies ready to welcome him as part of the Compagnons du Devoirthus following in his brother's footsteps (in the world of covering).
However, even during her future training, the young leatherworker wishes to continue her personal creative and manufacturing work and offer them locally.
