“It doesn’t give me pleasure to vote for this increase.” Thursday December 12, 2024, Patrick Gomontpresident of Bayeux () Intercom and all elected officials voted the new pricing of drinking water and sanitation which will take effect on January 1, 2025.

“We are in a context in which we have not finished paying increases,” said the president. Since 2022, prices increase from year to year. 2025 will not escape this.

A 10% increase

The price of drinking water will therefore increase by 10%. In detail, the subscription for a classic individual meter increases from €74 excluding tax in 2024 to 81,40€ Excl. VAT in 2025. Concerning the price of m3 consumed, estimated at €1.33 excl. VAT in 2024, will increase to 1,37 € HT at 2025.

The prices for collective sanitation will be known an increase of 8%with a subscription for which you will have to pay 54 € excluding tax, instead of €50 excluding tax in 2024, and a price per m3 consumed which will increase to 2,50 € excluding tax compared to €2.31 excluding tax in 2024.

“We have to be responsible, we have no choice for quality water”

“That’s a lot, those are very big increases. » Richard Brouzesmember of the environmentalist opposition at Bayeux town hall, worried about such an increaseparticularly for “the most modest households. »

A remark heard by Patrick Gomont who repeats it: “We have no choice. We must meet increasingly stringent standards to maintain water quality. We must deal with new molecules that appear in waters. This requires a certain investment which is expensive. If we do not have the means to renew the networks, we will face health problems. We have to be responsible, we have no choice for quality water.”

Changes to invoices

It will be necessary to decipher new lines on the next invoices worded as follows: “Fee for withdrawal of the resource”.

By this sentence, it must be understood that communities pay royalties at the Water Agency.

Part of these royalties are passed on to consumers and represent “a collective and united effort which serves to protect water resources. »

“This tax is included in the increase in the price of water. It has already been measured and amounts to €185,000, distributed among subscribers,” said Rémi Françoisevice-president in charge of drinking water at Bayeux Intercom.
