To celebrate the new year, you may still be looking for the best music possible. DJ Mico C, who works for Fun Radio, shared his tips for creating the perfect playlist. He first recommended linking styles and decades to please everyone.
So, each decade has its essential titles such as I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor in the 1970s. The 1980s were also full of hits with Sweet Dreams de Eurythmics, Billie Jean by Michael Jackson or even Take On Me from Aha.
Fans of the 1990s can turn to Wannabe des Spice Girls ou Freed from Desire gala. This title had also been most listened to on New Year's Eve 2023 on the Deezer platform. For the 2000s, the music of Beyoncé or Lady Gaga, with Bad Romanceremain essential.
After midnight, a song to party
Among the titles of the last fifteen years, Mico C recommends, among others, Slowly by Luis Fonsi, Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars or even Titanium by David Guetta. The order of songs counts for a playlist. “The goal is not don't play all the headlines from the start”explained Mico C. He advised putting catchy songs at the start of the playlist then “keeping the headline song of your evening just after the clock strikes 12”.
So what is the song to play as soon as the new year rolls around? “It is the one that everyone knows, everyone hums. It will depend on whether it's a family evening or more between friends”, estimated Mico C who cited a few titles which “make you want to party”. Among them, Gimme ! Gimme ! Gimme ! from ABBA, let me dance from Dalida or One More Time des Daft Punk.
Fashion is also to recycle old hits from forty years ago. The song Forever Young d'Alphavillereleased in 1984, was remixed by David Guetta and is one of the most listened to titles in the world in 2024. One of Julien Doré's latest hits, released in December, is a cover of Midnight Demonssong released in 1986.
