Laurens Sweeck (Crelan-Corendon) won the 6th of 8 events of the Superprestige cyclocross Monday evening in Diegem in an orphan meeting of the Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel, the world champion and Wout van Aert, the Belgian champion.

The final was particularly contested with the attacks of Thibau Nys who finally finished 3rd on the podium behind Niels Vandeputte, who retained his place as leader in the general classification.

Laurens Sweeck showed himself to be the strongest in the last few meters to win his third victory of the season. The race was very open with ten riders still at the front after 45 minutes. Michael Vanthourenhout suddenly let go as Laurens Sweeck tried to escape. There were still seven of them concerned by the laurels at the start of the last round.

The Dutchman Tibor Del Grosso took 4th place and the Belgian champion, Eli Iserbyt completed the top 5. In the general classification, Niels Vandeputte has 74 points to 69 for the Dutchman Lars van der Haar, 6th on Monday in Diegem. Laurens Sweeck now has 60 units. The next round of this Regularity Challenge will take place in Gullegem on January 4 before the closing round in Middelkerke on February 8, a week after the world championships in Liévin in the north of .

The next cyclocross meeting, however, is set for Wednesday in Baal for the Sven Nys Grand Prix, as part of the X2O Trophy.
