According to BFM DICI, the parents have decided to organize the religious ceremony at the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine basilica in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in the Var, on February 8. Then, Emile should be buried in Haut-Vernet.
It was last March 30. When a hiker spots several bones and decides to take them to the police. If doubts persist, they quickly fade away, until the day when none remains: the bones are those of Émile, a young boy who disappeared in July 2023 in Haut-Vernet in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
Nearly ten months after this discovery, his funeral will take place on February 8, 2025 during a religious ceremony at the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine basilica in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, in the Var, report our colleagues from BFM DICI.

This place, one of the most prestigious churches in the region, is highly symbolic for Christians. It is inside the latter that the relics of Saint Mary Magdalene rest. The parents hope that the many people who have wanted to pay their respects for several months will be able to do so.

Secondly, after the religious ceremony, the burial of the little boy, whose causes of death still remain unknown, will take place in the most complete family privacy. According to BFM DICI, if the cemetery of La Bouilladisse, a commune in Bouches-du-Rhône where Émile’s parents live, was considered, his remains should rest in the Haut-Vernet cemetery. The town’s municipal council will have to discuss this issue at the end of January.
