Gabriela Dabrowski, Canadian doubles champion at the 2023 US Open and bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, revealed Tuesday that she underwent surgery for breast cancer earlier this year. The 32-year-old Tennis player was diagnosed in April, before winning her Olympic medal.
After two operations and a three-month break from the WTA Tour, Dabrowski won the grass court title in Nottingham alongside New Zealander Erin Routliffe in June. The duo also reached the Wimbledon final, but fell short to Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend.
Dabrowski had deferred further treatment to participate in Wimbledon and the Olympic Games, where she won the bronze medal for Canada in mixed doubles with Félix Auger-Aliassime.

“At the beginning of my diagnosis, I was afraid that cancer would become a part of my identity forever. I no longer feel that way. It’s a privilege to call myself a survivor,” Dabrowski wrote on Instagram. The Canadian received radiotherapy before the US Open in late August, where she reached the quarter-finals with Routliffe.
