Vilaine car park, university hospital, trambus… These five projects which will change the face of Rennes in 2025

Some will say that there is always too much work, others will consider it above all useful… In any case, several major projects will start in 2025 in Rennes. News Rennes retained five main ones.

Parking Vilaine

This should be the biggest change by the end of the year. The deconstruction of the Vilaine car park slab continues to fuel debate. But, at the beginning of December 2024, the municipal council took note of the preliminary project for the redevelopment of Place de la République and its surroundings, therefore including the removal of the Vilaine car park. It also validated the forecast financial envelope of nearly 29 million euros.

Place du Champ Jacquet

Still in the city center. After the renewal of rue de l'Horloge in 2024, Place du Champ Jacquet will also begin its transformation until the summer of 2025.

The restructuring will rely on the “Y” shape of the crossroads composed of rue Leperdit and rue du Champ-Jacquet, in taking into account the topography of the place and the gentle slope which descends towards the Vilaine.

CHU de Rennes

The Rennes University Hospital has been renewing itself since 2019 and until 2029 into a City of Health. In 2025, the surgical and interventional center is expected to open. At the same time, the work on the future women-mother-child hospital will begin.

Trambus

After the opening of metro line B in Rennes in September 2022 and the redeployment of the bus network, it is a new major project for public transport in the Breton capital which will slowly begin to take shape in 2025.

In fact, the first redevelopments linked to the arrival by 2030 of lines of streetcar will be launched.

EuroRennes in the station area

The station area in Rennes will also continue to transform with numerous real estate projects in progress, on the Solférino boulevard side, with the “Adim” and “Esma” buildings.

On the rue de l'Alma side, near the Arvor cinema, the “Samsic” project, revised downwards, must also begin to be built in the year 2025. Requested by news Rennes, on December 31 and this January 2, the promoter FOR-BZH did not respond to our request for confirmation start of work.
