Washington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren should consider moving less away from his net as he made another costly mistake while standing outside his semi-circle.
At the very end of the first period of Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Wild, the American slowed the flow of a puck behind his net on the power play. However, he was never able to pass the disc and Yakov Trenin came to steal it from him.
The Russian was patient to outwit Lindgren, who tried in vain to redeem himself. Watch in main video.
The Washington goalkeeper is experiencing some failures this season. In November, he handed Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point a hat trick on a silver platter by scoring in his own net.
He later called the incident “the worst mistake of [sa] life on the ice.
The Capitals were ultimately defeated 4-3 in a shootout. Alexander Ovechkin scored for his 871st career goal, but goaltender Marc-André Fleury got the better of him during the shootout.
Ovechkin has three goals in four games since returning to action following a broken leg.
