The 138th edition of the Grand Prix de Pau is fast approaching (editor's note, January 19, brought forward by two weeks) and the Prix Bernard de Dufau (listed) is a stage which leads to group III in Pau. The field is tough this year, since we will notably find at the start the defending champion of the Grand Prix, In Love. The Hugo Merienne resident had, following this success, had a magnificent spring, where he notably had a great performance in the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris (Gr. I), placing fourth. This fall, the representative of Andrew Peake and his associates gained momentum, taking another fourth place against the very best steeple-chasers from Auteuil, in the Prix La Haye Jousselin (Gr. I). In Love will make his return to Pont-Long and will however have to carry the greatest weight of the race.
The premiere of Figuéro in Pau
The presence of the veteran Figuéro at the start is a little surprise, because the latter has only played once outside of Auteuil. It was November 2018, at the end of his 3-year-old year. But the resident of François Nicolle can reveal himself on this new route, he who did not manage to show his best face this fall. It is in good condition as its co-owner Jacques Détré confided to Thomas Guilmin. Jumping Charlieundefeated in Pau and winner for her first outing of the meeting, should play the leading roles. Finally, other competitors can do well in the race like The Lystracanother former group I winner at the start, who knows Pau where he already won last year, or Brexitwhich seems to be returning to a good level after several problems.
