Dear readers, fans of Losange and its associated brands,
We are pleased to send you our best wishes for the year 2025 which awaits us. A new vintage where we wish you lots of happiness, success, and moments to share with those you love. Of course, motorsport under the auspices of the Losange will be on the program and, we hope, will bring us the joys that we have been somewhat lacking in recent times.
2024 will indeed not be remembered as a good year for Renault. If we can cite strong moments, such as Alpine's excellent first season in the WEC, the rise of Nissan “made by Viry-Châtillon” in Formula E or the comeback of the A arrow in Formula 1, we will also not forget the double retirement at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a modest final sixth place in the premier discipline and above all, the decision to stop the engines in this same championship.
The end of Viry-Châtillon's engine activity will remain the highlight of 2024, around a major crisis within the Alpine team. It puts an end to decades of stories, of success, and raises the question of the support that a Losange enthusiast can give to this training. Before getting there, there is still a 2025 season to complete, and it promises to be beautiful, on all counts.
The end of the 2024 Formula 1 campaign has already shown a significantly fitter Alpine-Renault team. This is mainly the consequence of efficient developments expected to contribute to the future A525. In other words, in light of the latest performances, it is a safe bet that the last single-seater powered by an engine from Viry-Châtillon will be competitive, and contribute to honoring the last laps of a power unit hit with the Diamond .
On the program in 2025, the Group's return to the World Rally-Raid Championship. And it starts on January 3, under the Dacia brand, with a dream team. Led by Sébastien Loeb, the French team is favorite for victory, as much as to play for the W2RC title. Clearly a commitment to follow where Renault has been able to put the means to achieve its ambitions.
Endurance with Alpine will also be an interesting competition where we hope to see the A arrow confirm its excellent level seen in 2024. Getting closer to the leaders and ensuring a good presence at the 24 Hours of Le Mans will make 2025 a good vintage. The potential is there, the team is very solid, the lights are green in this program very well run by the Losange since its beginnings in 2013.
Formula E will be the other international competition to follow with Nissans in very good shape. Using technology developed by Viry-Châtillon, the Japanese firm is one of the favorites for the world title. Its client McLaren can also get involved in the fight for victory in a championship where there too, the means are deployed to win.
Finally, 2025 will be very marked by the context of the automobile industry, which has been battered in recent times. Between a reconfigured Renault-Nissan Alliance and subject to the uncertainty of the Nissan-Honda merger, the difficulty of the electric model to develop and the different regulatory positions, motorsport will necessarily be impacted in one way or another. another one.
The question of programs will probably be in the news, between the development of the Alpine team in Formula 1 alongside Mercedes to embark on the 2026 challenge, the rumors around the arrival of Renault in the WRC or even those of Alpine in IMSA. With Luca de Meo at the head of the Groupe au Losange, the competition has a bright future ahead of it, but the results must follow. 2025 suggests that good times are possible.
We will have the joy of experiencing them with you, with our very small passionate team, sometimes having difficulty juggling our lives and the management of this site, but always with a taste for writing, the car and the Losange. Sharing this love with you is an indescribtible pleasure and we are very happy at the idea of continuing this magnificent adventure next year.
Until then, have a nice evening, be careful, and above all, happy new year 2025 to you!
