Second podium in two days for Alexis Monney.

The days go by and are a bit similar for Alexis Monney. Winner of the Bormio downhill on Saturday, the 24-year-old from Friborg confirmed this on Sunday by taking third place in the Super-G.

An extraordinary weekend for someone who had never been on a World Cup podium before this weekend. The skier from Châtel Saint-Denis thus confirms all his potential, by achieving a superb bottom of the course, 24 hundredths behind Fredrik Möller, surprising winner of the day.

The Norwegian had never been on a World Cup podium before this success. But on Sunday, the 24-year-old athlete showed great ease and fluidity throughout the track, finishing just ahead of the experienced Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr.

Thanks to his performance, Monney was able to steal third place from Stefan Rogentin, who had been on the podium for a long time. The 30-year-old Grison takes fourth place, 42 hundredths behind.

Odermatt “only” 5th

The other Swiss hero of the day before, Franjo von Allmen, finished in 6th place (+0''64), his best result in Super -G. After thirty runners, Justin Murisier was in 14th place, after a few errors at the bottom of the route.

Still, a little disappointment came from Marco Odermatt, “only” fourth. The Nidwalden was in the running for a hat-trick, having won the last two Super-Gs in the Italian resort. As in the downhill on Saturday, the leader of the general classification of the World Cup and the discipline missed the podium.

Caviezel tastes

Note that the Swiss took the start after learning bad news for their teammate Gino Caviezel. In a weekend punctuated by falls, including the notable one by Cyprien Sarrazin on Friday, Sunday's Super-G did not escape them.

Starting with bib number one, the Grison violently crashed through a gate halfway through the race. Visibly injured in one leg, Caviezel had to be evacuated by helicopter after remaining on the ground for many minutes.
