The Intermarché-Wanty cycling team supports the most deprived
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Intermarché-Wanty team organized a fundraiser during the 2024 Tour de France. The objective: to support the Restos du Cœur. Thanks to the generosity of more than 400 donors, the objective of €10,000 was exceeded. On Friday December 27, 2024, Jean-François Bourlart, general manager of the team, presented a check for €10,085 to Patrick Banneux, president, and Zohra Zarouri, director of Restos du Cœur 59A. Several volunteers were also present for the occasion, which took place in Tournai. This initiative highlighted the work of Restos du Cœur. During the Tour’s rest days, many young beneficiaries were even able to discover behind the scenes of the Belgian cycling team.
Jean-François Bourlart : “We are proud to close 2024 by supporting Restos du Cœur with this check. As a sports team, we want to get involved with associations that work for the community. We are already thinking about the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Lille next July and other solidarity actions. » Patrick Banneux : “This is the first time that a sports team has supported our association financially. This gesture is all the stronger after the impact of their last Tour de France. We will continue to prioritize single-parent families and develop spaces for children to flourish, in order to break the isolation linked to poverty. »
With this collection, Intermarché-Wanty demonstrates that sport and solidarity go hand in hand. A great conclusion to a year full of emotions.
