FC Barcelona gets extension to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in LaLiga – El Diario NY

Dani Olmo and Victor could feature in FC Barcelona’s next match against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey.

FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with the Royal Spanish Federation (RFEF) for a 72-hour extension to register players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in LaLiga, who agreed to extend the deadline initially set for December 31. This extension was granted to ensure that the Catalan club could keep both players in their first team.

According to sources within the Blaugrana entity, this is a tripartite agreement that will allow Barcelona to finalize the necessary documentation for LaLiga approval regarding the loan and use of part of the new VIP boxes at the Spotify Camp Nou, in exchange for more than 100 million dollars.

LaLiga had asked Barcelona to provide payment guarantees from the two investing partners who will manage the new boxes and that the club receive advance payment for these contracts. However, the club argued that on New Year’s Eve it was impossible to provide all the necessary documentation, leading them to request a few more days to verify the payments.

This operation, finalized by the club’s president, Joan Laporta, in Dubai last week, was activated after exhausting legal avenues to register the two players without success. It should also allow Barcelona to return to the 1:1 rule of financial fair play.

This means that as well as securing Olmo and Victor’s place in the first team, Barcelona could operate at full capacity in the next transfer window, opening up options to strengthen the squad this winter.

If everything goes according to plan, Olmo and Victor could appear in FC Barcelona’s next match against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey (01/04) and against Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup (01/08 ).
