Individuals from rival gangs from the Bellevue and Pontanézen neighborhoods fought each other with knives and iron bars on board the vehicle, where other users were present. Four people were taken into custody.
The face-to-face began around 8 p.m., at the edge of the Penfeld river, in Brest, on December 27. Several young people from gangs in the rival districts of Bellevue and Pontanézen clashed in a violent brawl, with iron bars and knives, according to corroborating sources at Figaro. Wounded by a stab wound, a young individual collapsed, before being transferred to hospital without his life threatening.
Half an hour later, the return match begins. While young people from the Pontanézen district boarded a line 12 bus – which connects the two sensitive districts – a group of individuals from Bellevue burst onto the vehicle. According to a police source, the bus was forced to stop by around twenty individuals, before they entered armed. Always equipped with iron bars and knives, they sow terror among users. Two young people from Pontanézen were injured in the clashes.
Dispute surrounding a girl
The first, seriously injured in the head, and who would be minor, is then in absolute emergency. “Which is no longer the case since this Saturday morning”specifies the Brest public prosecutor's office which has opened an investigation. The second was injured in the face by shards of glass from a broken window of the vehicle.
Four individuals, from the two rival neighborhoods, have since been taken into police custody. “The investigation continues”specifies the prosecution. “She must still determine the chronology, and the responsibilities of each person”in particular thanks to the use of video surveillance images of the vehicle and private images captured by telephones. According to the aforementioned police source, no injuries were reported among other bus users. If the motive remains to be clarified, “a dispute surrounding a young girl” could be at the origin of this outbreak of violence, specifies the public prosecutor.
