In Savoie, a 44-year-old skier died on Saturday December 28, swept away by an avalanche in the Norma resort. She was skiing in an off-piste area with two other people.

In the images, we can still discern the traces of the avalanche at an altitude of more than 2,500 m. A snow slide dragged the skier away on December 28 late in the morning. A quarter of an hour after the tragedy, rescuers arrived on site, but it was already too late. “It took 50 minutes to discover the person who was under the snow. When he was discovered and brought out, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries”says a rescuer.

A helicopter from the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) arrived very quickly on site, at the Vallon du Ruisseau Saint-Antoine, not far from the Norma ski area. Accompanied by her husband and a third person, the victim, who lived in the region, was not equipped with an avalanche victim detector.
