Alain Delon was a lord of French cinema, figuratively but also literally, as he made his domain Douchy in the Loiret a fortress in his image, impregnable, immense and full of secrets. A property that he has acquired in 1971 when he was in a relationship with his dear and tender Mireille Darc, and which he transformed to make it a haven of peace far from the frenzy of his life as a star. His partner at the time greatly helped him to redevelop these places, thus destroying the castle in poor condition built under the First Empire.
The property has a beautiful, well-enclosed park of 52 hectares. In the well-documented book by Philippe Durant, Alain Delon – A French destiny (Editions Nouveau Monde), we learn that the Douchy estate often opened its doors, particularly for events for the elderly with film screenings in the beautiful projection room. However, there is a place where no one can come, “a slightly secluded office where only his dogs are allowed to accompany him“. Animals fed on beef bellies with whom he had a close relationship, which he buried in Douchy and with whom he rests, following his dearest wish.
