Every day, around thirty trucks take to the road to carry out regional tours. HAS Val-au-Perchethe MTA company (Messageries et Transports de l'Atlantique) has been charting its course since 1997. Without making any noise, only that of the engines which morning and evening, at the time of departures and arrivals for regional deliveries.

Industrial goods

A family group, with united values. This is how Frédéric Depuydt present MTA which he joined 21 years ago, after a career in teaching. Having joined as a night operator, he is now at the head of the Val-au-Perche site (delegated municipality of Theil-sur-Huisne in Orne).

“Our activity is dedicated to the transport of large volumes on pallets, mainly for manufacturers,” explains the director.

Originally, MTA mainly distributed printing paper, “but this installation at Theil, in 1997, is not linked to the companies present, like Abadie yesterday or Essity today”. It is rather the geographical crossroads which motivated this establishment: proximity to the motorway and .

Develop activity in the south of the country

MTA Transports continues to deliver paper, “but in lower volumes”, but has turned to other industrial sectors: lubricants, paints, glue and packaging mainly. Without forgetting, at Theil, an order preparation activity.

On the eve of 2025, the company wishes to develop its footprint in the south-east of , “where we do not yet have an agency although there is strong activity”.

Through a shareholder, MTA is also developing deliveries to the Benelux, Spain and Portugal.

Training young drivers

The road fleet, in Val-au-Perche, has 35 trucks “of which 15 run on biofuel” Departures are daily, for 24-hour activity, only on weekdays. “We deliver on average 300 customers per day in the region. »

Work is not on the agenda, the vast premises of 2,500 m2 (following two expansion phases) are sufficient for the current operation and the 80 employees. Agents all on permanent contracts or in work-study training.

Training, in fact, remains an important subject for Frédéric Depuydt who does not hesitate to collaborate with road driving schools. “We welcome interns and we go on site to promote our professions or participate in examination boards,” reveals the man who will retire in 2026.

At the Perchevalois site, several young people in training have signed employment contracts.
