On December 28, 2024, the Senegalese National Assembly officially installed the High Court of Justice, an exceptional judicial body responsible for trying senior state officials for crimes or misdemeanors committed in the exercise of their functions.

A decisive vote in the Assembly
Of the 165 deputies in the National Assembly, 140 approved the composition of this special jurisdiction. Two votes were against it and four deputies were absent during this vote, which took place the same day. Following the approval, the members of the High Court took the oath of office before parliamentarians, marking the official start of their mandate.

Composition of the High Court of Justice
The court is made up of eight full judges and eight substitutes, all chosen from among the members of the National Assembly. The titular judges from the deputies are:
