The meeting of the Lot Departmental Cycle Tourism Committee was held in mid-December in the Prayssac association hall, where around forty members gathered. The president of Codep Lot, Bernard Alzaga, welcomed Fabienne Sigaud, Serge Bladinières and Christophe Roger, then presented the moral report.
“At the end of this mandate I would like to thank the people who, in their clubs or on the committee, keep our structures alive,” he declared in the preamble. The year 2025 will see the formation of new teams at all levels. The numbers continue to grow. I welcome the Espère club. Our discipline is not competitive, the decline among young people continues. »
Projects that make the department shine
The president recalled that 2024 saw the realization of national-scale projects which made it possible to discover the department. Thus, the Maxi-verte attracted 1,400 mountain bikers and their companions. “Together in Paris allowed 23 of us to live an unforgettable experience, Cahors – Paris in eight stages,” mentioned Bernard Alzaga. Pink October by Bike raised awareness about breast cancer among participants (women and men). It is a shame that only a small part of the licensees, always the same, want to discover France and the Lot in particular. »
Cycle tourism in the Lot consists of 23 clubs comprising a workforce of 516 men and 126 women, or a total of 642 practitioners, a very clear increase compared to 2023 which had 438 men and 108 women. The age pyramid ranges from 4 to 89 years. The most strongly represented age group is between 62 and 78 years, with 377 men and 76 women, making a total of 453 cycle tourists.
Importance of security
The president drew attention to the importance of internal communication with certain clubs, which poses a problem in some cases. He raised the subject of safety and awareness where 600 young students are assessed each year.
At the end of his report, the 2021-2024 mandate coming to an end, he thanked all those who have accompanied him for sixteen years. The departmental cycle tourism committee is well structured with commissions: staff, women, young people, mountain biking, training. Each commission presented its assessment for the year 2024, which is positive. The presentation of the accounts shows a very healthy situation. The entire presentation of the general assembly was voted unanimously.
