The alert was given around 10 a.m. this Monday December 16, 2024 : a gas leak was detected in old Dinan (Côtes-d’Armor), near the English garden and the Sainte-Catherine chapel, while work is underway in this area.
Pipe rupture
It was also a pipe break linked to the construction site which was the cause of the leak, the technicians were quickly able to diagnose. GRDF urgently dispatched to the site.
Residents were confined to their homes, including residents of Yves-Blanchot home, neighboring establishment which welcomes elderly people.
Also nearby, the library, music school and convention center were evacuated. Twenty-six people were brought to safety and examined.
A moment closed, the neighborhood was quickly able to become accessible again. The intervention was completed before noon and the various security measures lifted.
Besides gas technicians, utwenty firefighters was mobilized for this incident, for which the gendarmerie and municipal police were also present.
