Consumer prices increase by 4.08% in the first half of the year

The consumer price index (CPI) in the first half of 2024 increased by 4.08% year-on-year, driven in particular by the increase in prices of pork and medical services, the company announced on June 29. General Statistical Office (GSO).

The average index in the second quarter increased by 4.39% compared to the previous quarter.

In the first half of the year, the groups of goods and services with the most significant price increases include education (8.58%); medicines and health services (7.07%); housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials (5.51%); catering and catering services (4%).

Inflation in the first half increased by an average of 2.75 percent compared to the same period last year, mainly due to rising prices of food, electricity and services, the GSO.
