As part of the Terre de Jeux label, obtained by the Portes euréliennes community of Île-de-France two years ago, the Épernon association is organizing its “Faites du sport” event today.

It’s a great day around sport which will take place this Saturday, June 29, in Épernon, at the initiative of the association. As part of the Terre de Jeux label, obtained by the community of communes of Portes Euréliennes d’Île-de-France two years ago, Bernard Grelet, president of the Épernon association, accompanied by his entire team and with the support of the municipality, wanted to organize a unifying event around sport.

Heated debate between the mayor and his opposition around the administrative account in Épernon

“We will do everything we can to make the event a success”

This has been done before the start of the Paris Games on July 26, with “Faites du sport”, which will showcase no fewer than twenty sections – and therefore disciplines – of the association.

“We decided, a little over a year ago, to hold a sports festival as part of this label. We presented our project to the municipality, which then gave us a grant to organize the event .”

“The association is really very dynamic: something happens every weekend and when Benard Grelet came to present his project to me, I just said yes,” says the mayor, François Belhomme.

“In terms of material agents and organization, we will do everything possible to ensure that the event is a success, despite the first round of the legislative elections and I thank them for organizing this day, because it would have been a shame if the municipality had done nothing.”

With 3,000 members, the association is one of the largest associations in the department and has no shortage of new projects. Recently, the tennis section notably launched health sports slots, every Tuesday morning, aimed at the elderly, or those suffering from heart and lung diseases.

The program

Strolling. From 11 a.m. until noon, a large stroll will take place in town, with a flame to commemorate the Olympic flame which will soon pass through Eure-et-Loir, accompanied by cyclists and mini tanks. It is an electric car, “so that it is ecological”, specifies Bernard Grelet, who will close the procession.

Opening parade. Then, at 2 p.m., the opening parade, at the Closelet stadium, will officially launch the day. It will also be an opportunity for young people from all sections of the association to form the Olympic rings.

Workshops and demonstrations. The workshops carried out by the twenty sections of the association will begin at 2:30 p.m. Each section will have a stand and will offer activities and entertainment to visitors. Demonstrations, lasting approximately 20 minutes, are also planned.

Pause. A break will be required at 6:30 p.m., with refreshments and food on site. Some activities, to keep you busy, are on the program: a quiz on the history of the association, a country dancing demonstration that people can join in and a small semi-nocturnal volleyball tournament.

Hunting. At 9 p.m. the treasure hunt will begin, with three circuits: the first inside the stadium for children, and the other two, a little longer, through the city. A drink will be offered to participants on their return, to close the evening.

Practical. “Do sports” today, from 2 to 11 p.m., at the Stade du Closelet, Route de Gallardon, in Épernon. Free event open to all. Entertainment, refreshments and food on site.
