At the initiative of the Haitian Tourist Association (ATH), a luncheon discussion was held at the Montana Hotel this Thursday, June 27, 2024. This event was attended by Mr. Laurent Saint Cyr, Presidential Advisor, and Mr. James Monazard, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism. This meeting allowed for fruitful discussions on various problems and possible solutions between key players in the national economy.

Port-au-Prince, June 28, 2024. – “We need a frank, sincere and continuous dialogue between the private business sector and the ministries that I lead,” underlined Mr. James Monazard during his speech. Minister Monazard reaffirmed his commitment to creating favorable conditions for business, while emphasizing an inclusive and collaborative approach. “We promise to work tirelessly to establish solid and lasting economic foundations. »

To achieve this, the Minister of Industry is counting on the undeniable support of the Presidential Transitional Council and the Prime Minister, Garry Conille. “Economic recovery requires frank cooperation between the government and the private sector,” said Mr. Monazard, believing that this synergy is essential to implement effective and sustainable reforms.

Furthermore, participants in this event took the opportunity to discuss the new tax code, which will come into force from October 1. The actors clarified certain aspects and also considered the involvement of the private sector.

In the field of tourism, Minister James Monazard promises to continue to support operators with a view to reviving the sector during his mandate at the ministry.

It should be noted that, in addition to members of the government, associations such as AmCham, ADIH, ATHRPH, CCI, CCIHC and the Macaya Institute also took part in this activity.
