Big change this year in Saint-Pée, the festivals will no longer be held from Friday to Tuesday, but from Thursday to Monday evening. From June 27 to July 1. “On Tuesday, we found that it was one evening too many,” explains Ellande Jauregui, co-president of the festival committee. Already, it was no longer a pleasure for many, and we noticed that there were not too many people during the day.”

The decision was therefore made to “shake up the routine”. The town hall willingly followed. Informed in January, she adapted her logistics. The heart of the festival will beat as usual on the church square, and the main street will be closed to traffic so that families can enjoy the activities “in complete peace”. The Senpertar, informed of the news during the quests and the distribution of the programs in May and June, reacted in various ways, some “asking to see”, others rejoicing, particularly at the dynamics of the launch.

“Thursday evening will be traders’ evening. With them, we wanted to put everything into this evening: for the first time, there will be a Basque dance show, a friendly pintxo, a txaranga. It’s a test, we think it will work, with the excitement of the start of the holidays that everyone has been waiting for a year,” expects the committee, which calls on everyone to come in black t-shirts and green scarves.
