What is Stray?
In Stray, you play a stray cat in a cyberpunk world. Humanity had to flee to completely closed cities due to high radiation. In these cities, they built robots to do all the tasks. However, over time, all humans died due to plagues and other factors, leaving only the robots, called Companions.
You play as a nameless stray cat who accidentally stumbles into one of these towns. Guided by a light, you are taken to a scientist’s laboratory. It turns out that she uploaded her memories to the network many years ago. Now equipped with a small drone and backpack, you navigate the city via platforming sections, interacting with numerous Companions. The game also offers a great story and a very cute cat.
Porting Stray to Switch
Stray was first released on June 19, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A year later, in August 2023, it was also released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This year it is scheduled to release for the last major console, the Nintendo Switch. Although an exact release date is not known, it has been said that Stray will release during the 2024 holiday season, so it is likely to release between November and December.
In the 30-second trailer, which you can watch above, one thing is immediately obvious: there has been a significant graphical downgrade for the Nintendo Switch. The environment and the cat itself are noticeably more pixelated and everything generally looks much worse. Hopefully this will be improved before the game releases for the Nintendo Switch.
