A truck collided with a barrier on Highway 401 in Toronto, causing a fire, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

In Toronto, the express lanes of Highway 401 westbound are closed between the DVP/404 highways and Leslie Arterial, following an accident.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a truck caught fire after crashing into a highway barrier around 5:10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The truck driver was taken to hospital. He suffered minor injuries, according to police.

There PPO indicates on X (formerly Twitter) that the expressways should reopen around noon, after cleaning the roadway.

The carpool lane (HOV tunnel) between Highway 404 (southbound) and Highway 401 (westbound) is also closed, following the accident.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area Wednesday morning.
